FOOD PANTRY: When I Was Hungry...
Each Sunday, members of the Danville Immanuel Lutheran Church drop off their food pantry donations, before they even take off their coats. You can help us help provide families with urgent food needs as our Lord and Savior Jesus commanded and exemplified. In the coat room, there is a gray table. Simply place your donation there and we’ll take care of the rest. Remember, we’re happy if you just bring one can each week!
Who Receives the Food?
Our food pantry provides food to people sent to us specifically by local agencies. These families in need are in the midst of a temporary financial crisis, often because of sickness or job loss.We certainly understand that situations can arise suddenly and you may need additional assistance. We have a list of other food pantries in the area available. We also have a list of other resources should you need help with paying rent, utilities, etc.
Is There Really a Need?
In Vermilion County, 31% of the families exceed federal poverty guidelines that would qualify them for food assistance. Those individuals must rely on charities to feed themselves and their families.
"If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire
of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your
gloom be as the noonday." - Isaiah 58:10
